Homes could be built on land off Old Rufford Road

Plans have been lodged to build 119 homes on the edge of a village in Nottinghamshire.

C A Strawson Farming Limited has submitted an application to Newark and Sherwood District Council for a housing development on land east of Old Rufford Road and north of Mickledale Lane in Bilsthorpe.

The documents state 30% of properties in the proposed development would be classed as affordable housing.

Developers said the proposed scheme would provide "much needed" housing in the area in a "sustainable" location, with play areas and public open space included.

"The scheme will make a meaningful contribution to the council's housing needs, including affordable provision, while delivering wider community benefits through landscape improvements, ecological gains, and safe pedestrian connections," a report submitted to the council states.

A decision is due to be made by 16 September, according to the district council's website.
