Firefighters and their kids to climb Ben Nevis

A group of Jersey firefighters and their children are set to climb Ben Nevis as part of a fundraising initiative.

The planned "Dads, Lads and Lasses Scottish Adventure" will see participants scale the UK's highest mountain on 14 August.

They are fundraising for The Lowe's Legacy Fun, which was set up in memory of father and son Dean and Charlie Lowe, who died in a hit-and-run crash in Jersey 2023.

They are also fundraising for The Firefighters Charity, which supports firefighters across the UK, as well as in the Channel Islands.

Jersey firefighter Richard said his sons Charlie and Archie went to school with Charlie Lowe and they wanted to do something in his memory.

"They were in the same class as Charlie at Primary school all the way through," he said.

"They are both sea cadets and are working on their Duke of Edinburgh challenge for sea cadets, so this was a way of linking in to something bigger.

"I have climbed Ben Nevis before as well as the Three Peaks challenge.

"I'm very proud of them for doing this."
