Body of missing woman found in park pool
Local Democracy Reporting ServiceA woman's body has been recovered from a pool in a park in the West Midlands after she went missing in the water on Saturday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Sandwell Valley Country Park in West Bromwich, following her disappearance around 16:30 BST.
West Midlands Police confirmed that specialist teams were deployed into the water, where they found the body. Nothing could be done to save the woman, and the force confirmed she was dead at the scene.
Her death is not being treated as suspicious at this time, and police will be liaising with the coroner.
The force said it was supporting the family of the woman, and added: "Our thoughts are with them at this tragic time."
It is the latest in a number of water deaths during this summer's hot weather.
Earlier on Saturday, police recovered the body of a 22-year-old man, Brody Leach, who was reported to have entered the river in Shrewsbury in the early hours on Friday.
Elsewhere, a man died at a beach in Essex on Friday, while on Wednesday, a 50-year-old man was pronounced dead at Aberavon beach after getting into difficulty while swimming in the sea off the south coast of Wales.
Several people died during a previous hot spell in May, including a teenage girl in Warwickshire.
