A major route is to be closed overnight for three weeks to allow for resurfacing works.

From Monday, Blagrove Roundabout, which connects western Swindon with junction 16 of the M4, will shut from 19:00 BST to 06:00.

Swindon Borough Council said resurfacing the key junction would "reduce the need for repeated short-term repairs".

The works are part of a new £30m investment over four years in road repairs by the council made possible by longer-term funding from government.

Works will take place under lane closures with diversions in place where necessary.

A council spokesperson said: "While every effort is being made to reduce disruption, drivers are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys during the overnight closure periods.

"The roundabout is one of the more than 30 roads set to be resurfaced in 2026/27 as set out in the council's Local Transport Plan."

Cabinet member for highways and transport Nick Gardiner said: "We know these works can be inconvenient, which is why this upgrade has been planned overnight.

"This resurfacing is an example of our planned work to proactively manage the condition of local roads and, once complete, the work will provide a smoother and more resilient road surface, helping to keep Swindon moving."
