Men charged after incident in town centre

Two men have been charged with numerous offences after police were called to an incident in a town centre on Saturday night.

Police were initially called to a fight in Grosvenor Road in Lowestoft, Suffolk at about 18:45 BST on Saturday.

Road closures were put in place on St John's Road and Mill Road on Sunday, before the area reopened at about 10:20.

Suffolk Police said a 27-year-old man, from the town, has been charged with various offences including attempted wounding, while a 40-year-old man, also from the town, has been charged with robbery.

The 27-year-old was charged with five counts of criminal damage, two counts of attempting wounding with intent and intentionally recklessly causing a public nuisance.

He was also charged with attempted theft from a shop and a motor vehicle.

The 40-year-old was only charged with robbery. Both were due to appear at Great Yarmouth Magistrates' Court.

A 13-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of common assault, obstructing a police officer, assault of an emergency worker and affray.

He was bailed with conditions to return to police on 5 September.

Police said the incident was "safely resolved" on Sunday.
