Lane closures for further M62 Ouse Bridge repairs

Motorists are being warned about lane closures over the weekend and early next week on the M62 Ouse Bridge.

A damaged joint was found on Tuesday, and further investigations found four more joints that needed repairing, even though they were all replaced during a lengthy project completed in early 2025.

National Highways said work on the bridge near Goole, East Yorkshire, would take place over five nights, between 20:00 and 06:00 BST. Repairs are planned on the eastbound carriageway overnight onFriday and Saturday, with westbound work on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

The carriageways will have justone lane open during the overnight work and two lanes open during the day.

The eastbound carriageway will be fully open again from Sunday morning and the westbound carriageway from Thursday morning.

Work on the bridge was carried out over several years starting in March 2022 after eight damaged joints were found.

A National Highways spokesperson said: "All joints on Ouse Bridge were replaced with new ones as part of the scheme that was completed in early 2025. We are working with contractors to understand why these defects have occurred."
